Most of the cost of a resin driveway sits under the surface. Here is what changes the figure, and why a price given down the phone is only ever indicative.
We do not publish a fixed price per square metre, because it would be misleading. Two drives of identical size on the same street can differ substantially once you know what is beneath them and where the water goes.
What affects the price?
- Total area in square metres
- Awkward shapes, curves and narrow sections
- Whether the existing base can stay
- Access for materials and machinery
- Repairs to walls, thresholds or drainage
- Working around trees, gates and services
The cost layers, from the ground up
- Layer 1
Taking up the existing drive
Breaking out old concrete, tarmac or paving, and the cost of carting it away. Skips and tipping are a real part of the figure, not an afterthought.
- Layer 2
Excavation and levels
Digging to the right depth so the finished drive sits correctly against thresholds, manhole covers and the pavement.
- Layer 3
Sub-base
Stone laid and compacted in layers. Depth depends on the ground and on what will be parked on it.
- Layer 4
Drainage
Channels, gullies, connections or a permeable construction. On some frontages this is the largest single variable.
- Layer 5
Edging and restraints
Something has to hold the surface at its edges — kerbs, block borders or an existing sound edge.
- Layer 6
Aggregate and resin
Blend and stone size change the material cost. Depth of the wearing layer matters too.
- Layer 7
Laying and finishing
Mixing, trowelling, edge detail and site clearance.
Do I need the old driveway removed?
Not always. If the existing base is sound and levels still work, keeping it saves excavation and disposal, and that shows in the quote. Where it has failed, overlaying is a false economy — see installation and ground preparation for how we assess it.
